Actress Wanted

This project is currently in its casting phase. This page serves as a temporary front page.

Filming time: approximately 2 hours.

Content: You will be seated on a chair in front of a camera. There is no acting, no performance, very little direction regarding movement, and otherwise only the natural movement that occurs when one sits for an extended period.

No dialogue: There is no script, no lines, and no scenes to perform. The film itself contains no sound. There will be an English voice‑over. The voice‑over text can be provided.

Safety: There is no physical contact at any point. You will remain fully clothed throughout the filming. You are welcome to bring a friend to the shoot. Filming takes place in a large, bright studio in Copenhagen. Date and time will be agreed upon.

Natural presence: I am not necessarily looking for an actress or someone with experience. What matters is that you can sit calmly and simply be yourself in front of the camera. I am not seeking a particular body type or beauty ideal. I am looking for someone with a feminine calm and presence, as seen in, for example, Jean Seberg or Anna Karina — a face capable of carrying stillness, absence, and intensity.

The filming consists of two types of camera shots:

  • A static camera filming you frontally from a distance.
  • A camera that slowly moves around you, creating extreme close‑ups of the face, eyes, nose, ears, hands, legs, feet, shoulders, chest, stomach, etc. There will also be a static camera filming close‑ups.

Fee: 500 DKK + catering during the shoot.

Contract and rights: A contract will be prepared before filming and signed by both parties. As the artist, I hold the rights to the film and the recorded material. You may use the footage for personal purposes (e.g., portfolio) if I grant written permission. The contract specifies precisely how the film may be used, ensuring clarity. You may not edit the footage yourself. The contract can be viewed here.

Purpose: The film explores calm, observation, and presence. It is inspired by J. P. Sartre’s idea of “the gaze” and the act of observing a person; the fundamental question of “who?”. This is an art project, not a traditional film production.
